In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization has partnered with the Embassy of Israel, Makati Medical Foundation and Spark Philippines for “The Isha Project”. Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, signed the Manifesto of Support, alongside Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss, Dr. Victor Gisbert, President of Makati Medical Foundation, and Dr. Mercedes Viduya, Chairperson of the OB-Gyne Department. The Isha Project is a woman’s health and wellness advocacy program. It will provide free breast exams, pap smear and other health services to 300 women who may not be able to afford or have access to these.
This partnership will be one of several tangible efforts that the MUPh Organization will undertake in promoting women empowerment. According to Lia Andrea Ramos, MUPh Head of Women Empowerment and Charity, “We are very happy to support such a worthy cause that is perfectly aligned with our women’s health advocacy for this year’s pageant. In the coming weeks and months, we will be involved in programs that deal with women’s health and overall well-being.”
Today’s event was held the Makati Medical Center. Also present were Mr. Nir Balzam, Deputy Chief of Mission, Shamcey Supsup Lee, MUPh National Director, Voltaire Tayag,MUPh Director of Communications, Marge Barro, Executive Director of the Makati Med Foundation, Mikaela Luisa Teves, Executive Director of SPARK Philippines and Gen Charisse Manzano, Naval Reserve Force.
Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fuss said in the event, “The place of a woman is extremely important for a healthy society. This year we decided to focus on women’s health which is also extremely important which is access to health and preventive health. Not everybody has this access. I’m very happy we’re inaugurating this program.”The first batch of women beneficiaries of “The Isha Project” included Navy and Coast Guard. MUPh 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez said, “It’s very heartwarming to be working with the Israeli Embassy again. They have been so supportive of me in my Miss Universe journey. I’m glad to be able to help support them this time. It’s also very cool that the first batch of women recipients are my fellow Navy along with the Coast Guards.”
The Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant has recently announced the Top 50 Official Delegates. The Finals night is slated for April 30, 2022 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
