After finishing in the Top 10 of the recently concluded 63rd Miss Universe Pageant, Mary Jean Lastimosa comes home with pride and gratefulness, knowing how Filipinos here and abroad expressed their overwhelming love and support for her during the pageant.
Although she was not able to win the title, the North Cotabato native is genuinely happy to return home, especially because of the many lessons she learner throughout her Miss Universe journey.
"I'm so happy. I'm finally back after a month di ba? Sobrang, I had agreat experience in Miami, Florida, feeling ko ang tagal ko nag stay doon because the people are very nice, warm yung pagka welcome sa amin, sa mga candidates. I think Doral was very excited to have Ms. Universe held in their place. Its their first time and its a young city. It was a great experience knowing all the girls, sharing my culture, sharing what Filipinos are. And I think they embraced us, I think they love us there. It was a great experience all in all". says MJ upon arriving at the NAIA Airport this morning.
Despite the unexpected result of her not able to make it to the Top 5, as what Filipinos were eagerly expecting, Lastimosa has this to say.
" I was really there to win the crown. But then again, some things are out of our control, its out of our hands already. You give your best, the Filipinos are there supporting you. You prayed so hard, you worked so hard. But maybe its God's plan. The only thing you can do is to accept it, and learned from it, and move on. So, thats what I did. You know, i have no regrets because I really lived the day. Everyday was a great experience for me, I'm writing all the experience I've had. I was just grateful to be given that opportunity to represent the countryand i hope I did well, that I really showed what a true Filipina is. Kaya ngayon, wala akong bitterness, wala akong regrets".
